Grid Forming

  • Next-Generation Inverter Solutions for Grid Stability
  • As renewable energy penetration accelerates, the traditional stabilizing function of synchronous generators continues to decline. This shift has made grid stability one of the most critical challenges facing modern power systems.
  • Korea Grid-Forming (KGFM) addresses this challenge with advanced Grid-Forming (GFM) inverter technology, enabling stable and reliable power delivery even in networks with a high share of inverter-based resources.
  • Unlike conventional inverters that simply follow the grid, a Grid-Forming inverter actively establishes and regulates voltage and frequency, allowing the system to remain stable during faults, disturbances, and other dynamic events. It effectively functions as a grid-forming resource, not just a power converter—an essential capability for next-generation renewable grids.
  • In 2023, KGFM successfully verified Grid-Forming performance in a real PV plant demonstration in Jeju, proving its ability to enhance system stability. By 2025, we further demonstrated an independent microgrid powered by solar and wind energy, confirming both operational feasibility and future commercial scalability.
  • Building on extensive field validation and proprietary control technologies, KGFM is now expanding full-scale deployment of Grid-Forming inverters for renewable-integrated networks.
  • We deliver end-to-end solutions, including custom grid design, onsite support, system modeling, performance tuning, and optimized inverter supply tailored to each customer’s operational requirements.
