We have established a Power HILS (Hardware-in-the-Loop Simulation) environment to verify the performance of our grid-forming inverter in next-generation power systems.

Power HILS integrates real-time simulation with an AC amplifier that outputs actual voltage, enabling precise modeling of future power systems with high penetration of renewable energy and the reproduction of various transient phenomena.

Using this environment, we conducted tests applying our developed grid-forming inverter and confirmed its excellent performance and capability to enhance power system stability.

In addition, the technology was showcased at the 2024 BIXPO HIL TECH demonstration event, attracting strong interest from both industry and academia.

One of the key functions of a grid-forming inverter is to generate and maintain voltage in an independent network while supplying loads in coordination with renewable energy sources.

In April 2025, we successfully deployed our grid-forming inverter in a renewable energy complex powered by solar and wind generation on reclaimed land, establishing an independent microgrid that has been operating reliably ever since.

Through this project, we validated the inverter’s ability to form and maintain the grid, integrate solar power generation, and supply loads. Additionally, we successfully conducted tests involving the operation of an emergency diesel generator and the shutdown of the last generator, further confirming the grid-forming inverter’s capability to ensure system stability and resilience.

We are conducting a demonstration project by directly connecting our grid-forming inverter to the KEPCO Wanggok Substation, in order to verify its performance and ensure system stability.

This project also takes into account the performance requirements for grid-forming inverters set by international utilities and research institutions, enabling us to validate the inverter’s operation and performance in an actual power system environment.

In 2023, we installed our developed grid-forming inverter at a solar power plant in Jeju Island to conduct a field demonstration and analyze its operational performance under varying power system conditions.

During the demonstration period, we recorded and analyzed the inverter’s output under transient events, frequency fluctuations, and voltage variations, confirming its contribution to enhancing system stability and successfully verifying its performance.
